Borgo Storico Seghetti Panichi
Relaxing holiday destination for foodies & culture lovers
The Borgo Storico Seghetti Panichi is as much a national monument as it is a lived-in family home (since the 1750s). It has been open to guests and visitors since 2000, when the family decided to share their house and its treasures, the historic park and the view of the Sibillini mountains and Adriatic coast, with their visitors and make them feel at home. The Borgo is a peaceful shelter from daily life, perfectly combining culture and tradition with attention to detail and quality service.
The Borgo lies on a hill along the valley of the River Tronto, a few kilometres from Ascoli Piceno. The historic compound, built in different periods, offers guests a choice of 11 suites furnished with antique pieces and offering a complete range of facilities: six suites in the elegant Relais Villa, an ancient medieval fortress, which was adapted into a country residence in the 18th Century; and five separate apartment suites with private access, composed of bedroom, bathroom, sitting room and kitchenette, in the Residenza San Pancrazio (dating back to 1600).
All suites are with air conditioning, telephone, satellite TV, electronic safe, minibar and kettle for tea. One apartment suite, Sibilla, is equipped for disabled. Adsl internet point and wi-fi internet connection is available in all apartment suites and common areas. The coffee house and bookshop, meeting rooms, the swimming-pool with sauna and wellness room together with the historic gardens, complete the compound. A babysitting service is also available.
The Venezia dining room and the old kitchen (originally a crypt), open in the evening on request for those who wish to enjoy local, traditional recipes, produce from the kitchen garden and wines from local wine cellars. During the summer, unforgettable dinners can be arranged under the stars and breakfast will be served under the grape pergola of the Coffee House Il Palmeto, where guests can enjoy a breakfast of fresh homemade natural produce from the kitchen garden and local farms. In the evening, when the sun sets behind the Sibillini Mountains, the Coffee House turns into a cocktail bar!
All is surrounded by a historic garden of rare beauty, planted between 1875 and 1890 by the renowned botanist and landscape gardener Ludwig Winter, and today it is the first Bioenergetic garden in Europe with many exotic plants and it is one of the 72 Great Italian Gardens.
The sun-drenched swimming pool, set in beautiful natural surroundings, is perfectly positioned to enjoy the fresh sea breeze that blows from the nearby Adriatic Riviera. The wellness room is equipped with a sauna and guests can enjoy unforgettable moments of relaxation and wellness: a wide range of massages are available from €50.00 and beauty treatments from €15.00. Special two or three day treatment packages are also available like the Bioenergetic Treatment over two days for €170.00. The open air massage is a once in a lifetime experience in the quiet surroundings of the wonderful bioenergetic garden (€ 150.00).
The Borgo Storico Seghetti Panichi reflects a philosophy of the art of living and offers a wide range of activities for its guests. The Cultural Association presents artistic and local themes at exhibitions and events of national importance. Cookery lessons and creative workshops offer guests a better understanding of the oldest, local traditions.
The Borgo Storico is in such an unspoilt part of Italy, there is simply something for every guest. Whether you enjoy a break in the bioenergetic garden, a delicious meal in the old kitchens or by the pool, or simply a stroll under the shade of the precious olive trees. Le Marche is rich in culture, but there are also plenty of opportunities to enjoy beach life or a shopping spree.

LE MARCHE:
A combination of experience, history and nature makes Le Marche one of the most culturally interesting regions in Italy. It has the highest density of museums and galleries in Italy, with approximately 100 città d’arte, 106 castles and 71 important historic theatres. Here the food and wine produce have maintained their authenticity and originality. The hills of Le Marche slope gently down to the sea and thick tropic-like vegetation merges into the sandy beaches of the Adriatic coast.
9 km (5½ mi) from the Borgo lies the city of Ascoli Piceno, called the “travertine city”, whose origins date back to the 6th – 7th centuries BC. The Piceno coast, 18 km (11.2 mi) from the Borgo also known as the Palm Riviera has always been a favourite destination for holidaymakers from Italy and abroad. It is particularly attractive in the months of June and September for those who want to be far from the crowd.
Le Marche has also established a reputation for the number of factory outlets for Italian designers like Tod’s, Cesare Paciotti, Fornarina, Genny and Prada, but also for many locally handmade goods.
